This recipe may look complicated, but it really isn’t. It moves quickly and you can get dinner on the table in a short amount of time. Make sure you have all your ingredients good to go so once you get moving, you don’t have to stop.

It’s dairy free, absolutely delicious, and you can easily make it egg free if you’d like just by substituting a couple of things.

For the Meatballs

  • 1lb Ground Beef (Chuck works well)
  • 1/4 Cup Onion, chopped
  • 1 Clove Garlic, minced
  • 2 Slices of Bread, Torn in Tiny Pieces
  • 1 Teaspoon Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy Blend
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 Large Egg or Egg Replacer to Equal 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil

For the Gravy:

Serve It On:

  • 1 lb Wide Egg Noodles, cooked to al dente (or any egg free noodle you’d like)

To Make:

Place beef, onion, garlic, bread, spices, egg, and water into large bowl and mix until thoroughly blended.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat until oil starts to shimmer.
While you wait for your pan to heat, form your meatballs. I think I made mine a little smaller than golf ball size (they’ll shrink)
Add meatballs to your skillet, but don’t over crowd them, we want to be able to turn them easily and get some great color going.

When the meatballs are cooked through, remove them from your skillet to a paper towel lined plate.
Continue steps 4 and 5 until all of your meatballs are done.
After all your meatballs are cooked and removed from your pan, measure the remaining fat. You’ll need to reserve 2 Tablespoons of it. Mine totaled out to exactly 2 Tablespoons.

Things are going to move fast now, so make sure everything you need is measured out and ready to go

Add the Fleischmann’s Unsalted Margarine to the drippings and melt.
Add the Flour to your fat and whisk it until it’s smooth and bubbly.

Remove your skillet from heat, and slowly add in your beef broth mixture, whisking continuously.


Bring to a boil, whisking continuously, for 1 minute, until thickened to your liking.
Remove from heat and give it a taste to see if it needs any salt or pepper.
Add in meatballs and mushrooms and stir until meatballs are thoroughly coated in gravy.

Serve over hot cooked egg noodles and enjoy!
