A friend of mine, Elizabeth from Easy Breezy Life shared this post on facebook today and I felt compelled to check it out. When Maya was first diagnosed with life threatening food allergies I knew nothing about what they were, why they were, or even how they were. So I, like Robyn O’Brien, began to research. I became convinced that the problem was in how much our food supply has changed over the past thirty years.

Food allergies have always been around, but not in the massive prevalence they are today.

I cannot believe how the epidemic has spread. It breaks my heart. I’m sure you’ve seen the research out this year proclaiming the truth of how bad this is. 1 in 13 children in the United States has a life threatening food allergy. 1 in 13! How can this possibly be? This, this right here is one of the reasons why I’m going back to school to get into dietetics. I want to know why, what’s going on in the proteins in our food, and how I can help make things better.
